About JET Fluid Systems Inc.
Our Story
Founded in 1988 by Jim and Nancy Trethewey, JET Fluid Systems Inc. (based in Kitchener, Ontario) has built a strong reputation for excellence in the fluid-handling industry. From its early days as a local specialist in industrial pumps and fluid-transfer equipment, the company has grown into a trusted provider for clients across Ontario and beyond.
Early Years & Founding Vision
Back in the late 1980s, Jim and Nancy recognised a key gap in the market: high-performance fluid handling equipment paired with responsive service and technical support. They started JET Fluid Systems with the goal of delivering not just quality products, but the kind of hands-on service and integrity that set the company apart from large, impersonal suppliers. Over time, they built a foundation rooted in reliability, long-term relationships and technical expertise.
Growth, Service Expansion & Product Leadership
As JET matured, the business expanded its service capabilities in addition to product sales. The service division became a core differentiator—offering OEM-level repair and maintenance for a wide range of pumps and fluid-handling systems.
The company also maintains its Kitchener location (125 McBrine Place) as the operational hub supporting sales, service, and client relationships.
Leadership Transition & Family Legacy
In Spring 2014, leadership of JET Fluid Systems transitioned to the next generation when Matthew & Amanda Trethewey, assumed operational control. At that point, Jim retired after a distinguished career spanning approximately 43 years in the pump and fluid-handling world before handing over the reins.
With Matthew ( President) and Amanda (Service/Repair Manager) now at the helm, the company continues the family tradition of service, integrity and technical depth, while embracing modern practices and customer-focused innovations. Continuing the tradition, in 2021 the third generation Ainsley Trethewey joined the company in an Inside Sales role, signalling JET Fluid Systems as a true family-run, multi-generational enterprise. Today Ainsley handles key accounts and purchasing.
JET remains proudly family-owned and operated, offering trusted brands, expert service, and long-term value—built on over three decades of dedication to the fluid-handling industry.
